Annodam Day Spa & Salon

Well, hello, 2007!
Sorry you have not heard from us in a while; we have been pretty busy… but not too busy for you, our wonderful clients!

Part of the education that Annodam provides is advanced technical education, which includes technical work on stage and behind the scenes. Our stylists who complete certain levels of education and technical training advance to such prestigious events such as Fashion Week. You might remember Kerri, one of our models in Karen’s portfolio in the earlier years and entry stylist for NAHA, North American Hairstyling Awards.

I sat down with Kerri to ask her some important questions:

Geri: You’re coming up on four years, and in July, you will become a senior stylist. Congratulations! What is the most important part of being a stylist you learned about at Annodam?

Kerri: Thank you, Geri. I learned that hard work equals good opportunity.

Geri: Most people want to talk, but more importantly, they want to be heard. As a stylist, you always are listening. If you could say something to your clients, and they were listening, what would you say?

Kerri: That my clients are very much appreciated, and they have helped me reach my life goals, which has enabled me to excel as a person.

Geri: Education is so important. Your clients love to hear what you have done in your field. How do you feel when they recognize your accomplishments and compliment your work?

Kerri: It is very rewarding. It pushes me to continue learning so I can give back all the education I’ve received and make my clients feel good about themselves.

Geri: If you have a magic wand and could ask for anything professionally, what would it be?

Kerri: Do you know what I really would wish for?

Geri: What is that?

Kerri: That you would ask me another question.

Geri: Your wish is my command. Let’s talk about the future. What would you love to see artistically about the future?

Kerri: Seeing everyone being motivated like I am, stimulated and surrounded by people who also have career goals and ambition.

Geri: Thank you, Kerri. We’ll talk more with you later.

Do you remember Tina, our wonderful esthetician?
Her first day with us started out with a call something like this:
“Good morning, Tina!”
Tina was not even up yet; neither were the birds.
“Yes, Tina, it’s Geri and Karen from Annodam.”
“WHO…?”
“Geri and Karen, the owners…”
“Who?”
“Your BOSS!”
“Oh, yes. How can I help you?”
“Tina, you are not to report at Annodam for your first day; you are to go straight to ESPN to do a TV promo for football on Monday night for the Philadelphia opener.”
“You’re kidding, right?”
Well, that was huge success. Her credits since then have earned her a favorite pick for the AVEDA team as a freelance makeup artist. Tina will split some of her time between Annodam and AVEDA. Rest assured that she will always make time for her Annodam clients first.

Thank you…

This year, Karen and I have to give a
special thanks to all our hard-working, professional staff.

To Karen, the greatest business partner the world has ever known. To our general manager for all her hard work. To our associates and stylists who make everything run like clockwork. To our amazing front desk staff personnel.

Finally, the owners and staff thank YOU, our amazing clients, for all the wonderful gifts we received this holiday season! It warms our hearts to know we continue to mean so much to you.

Oh, and by the way, we do have our location for our next business.
I’ll give you a hint: it is going to be called Annodam City. It’s not New York – yet.

Vai Sikahema
and Chanel 10 NEWS visit Seedlings…

Wednesday's Child: Myira

This week’s Wednesday’s Child wants to work at a spa and become a fashion designer when she grows up, so NBC 10’s Vai Sikahema took 12-year-old Myira to a spa for a lesson on pampering.

The style-loving preteen recently visited Seedlings Salon in Doylestown to learn all about makeovers and even received a little glamorizing herself. As she works on honing her skills for a future career in beauty, she's also focusing on finding a forever family to adopt her.

At the salon, she talked about what she's looking for in a family, but she also had a lot of fun learning more about a career as a spa employee. Before salon employees put Myira to work, they made sure she received some special treatment.

Myira made herself comfortable in the stylist’s chair as two hairdressers added a soft wave to her braided hair. As they worked on her new look, Myira couldn’t help but give Vai some hair advice, too.

“There's not really much you can do with this,” Vai said, tugging at his short haircut.
“No, you could gel it back and comb it,” an interested, wide-eyed Myira suggested. “Or you could condition it so it would be soft.”

After the hair lesson, Myira learned all about manicures.

“You want to take the smoother side and just even it,” one of the technicians explained. “Put just a drop (of lotion) right near his cuticle.”

Armed with a stash of nail goodies, Myira made Vai’s hands into glossy, cleanly manicured examples of her work. Then the nail technician taught Myira how to use the lotion to give Vai’s hand a massage.

“I can feel the stress leaving,” he said.

Then Myira broke out the polish.

“Do you have candy apple red?” Vai asked. “Just kidding!”

He settled for a clear coat before the two sat down to talk about why Myira is drawn to the fashion and beauty world.

“It makes people feel happy. It makes them think about themselves in a good way,” she explained.

She also hopes to find a family who will support her along the way. She said she wants forever family members who will “help me with my homework, help me with my sketching.”

She has a future full of beauty; now she just needs a forever family to light her path.

Congratulations

To Ali & Renee for advancing to Annodam's stylist level.
